Is a Happy Meal Really a Happy Meal Without a Toy?

McDonald’s might want to rethink naming their kids meal a Happy Meal, officials in Santa Clara County, California want to ban toys in the traditional children’s meals. Since the rise of childhood obesity has become aware in America, Ken Yeager, of Santa Clara County feels that with no toys children won’t be tempted to ask for the high calorie meals McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s and other burger joints sell.

Yeager’s proposal wants to ban toys from the “unhealthy” burger meals and include them only in “healthy” meals. The biggest issue with this proposal is that no one in America, not even in Santa Clara County would vote for this because it is just down right stupid. A happy meal is called a happy meal because of the free toy that’s included inside the bag. It’s not the toy that will keep children from becoming overweight, it’s the meal itself that is.

Kids are kids are most kids rather play with a new toy than eat a meal anyway. Yeager might want to rethink another solution to promote healthy eating habits because the California Restaurant Association isn’t taking it too seriously and neither is anyone in America at that. A toy make a child fat, an neither does a 550-calorie cheeseburger Happy Meal. A toy is a treat and it shouldn’t be held hostage, they don’t fund themselves meals. Maybe Yeager should think about punishment for the parents next time.

  1. An interesting topic. But you REALLY need to watch your sentences...

This is a run-on: "McDonald’s might want to rethink naming their kids meal a Happy Meal, officials in Santa Clara County, California want to ban toys in the traditional children’s meals."

It has two subjects: McDonald's and Santa Clara County - that should be a clue to you that something is wrong

"Since the rise of childhood obesity has become aware in America,..."

Childhood obesity hasn't become aware in America; America has become aware of it.

"Yeager’s proposal wants to ban toys from the “unhealthy” burger meals and include them only in “healthy” meals. "

Should either be ...In his proposal, Yeager suggests... OR ...Yeager wants to ban toys...Repetitive as is

"Kids are kids are most kids rather play with a new toy than eat a meal anyway." Not sure what's going on here

"Kids are kids are most kids rather play with a new toy than eat a meal anyway. " ???

Also, I'm not sure I buy your argument. You don't think maybe the toys are encouraging kids to want those meals, which aren't good for them?
